Veedersburg -- Blanche Newman, 87 of Rt 4, Veedersburg died at 1:50 p.m. Friday in Tall Trees Nursing Home at Covington. She had been a patient 3 months. She was a member of Stone Bluff United Methodist Church. She was born at Stone Bluff 13 March 1887 a daughter of Allen and Ella McLean Boord. she married Joseph S. Newman June 8, 1909. He died Dec 11, 1960. Surviving are a son, Joseph Allen of Hillsboro; five daughters, Mrs. James (Frances) Ingersoll and Mrs. Bill (Lois) Mitton of Waynetown; Mrs. Leslie (Josephine) Grubb of Newtown; Mrs. Clifford (Anna Lou) Crider of Rt 3, Covington and Mrs. Richard (Barbara) Ludlow of Veedersburg; a sister, Mrs Ollie (Ruth) Clawson Rt 4, Veedersburg; 20 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister and niece. Services will be conduct4d at 11 a.m. Monday in Sterling Christian Church with Kenneth Stith officiating. Burial in Osborn Prairie Cemetery. Friends may call after 3 pm. Sunday at Parham Funeral Home, Veedersburg. The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to services. Memorial contribution may be made to Sterling Christian Church.

Mrs. Blanche Boord Newman, 87, of Rt. 4, Veedersburg, died at 1:50 p.m. Friday, July 19, at Tall Trees Nursing Home in Covington.
  Born March 13, 1887, in Stone Bluff, she was the daughter of Allen and Ella McLean Boord. On June 8, 1909, she was married to Joseph S. Newman who died December 11, 1960.
  Survivors include a son, Joseph A. of Hillsboro, five daughters, Mrs. James (Frances) Ingersoll and Mrs. Bill (Lois) Mitton, both of Waynetown, Mrs. Leslie (Josephine) Grubb of Newtown, Mrs. Clifford (Ann Lou) Crider of Rt. 3, Covington, and Mrs. Richard (Barbara) Ludlow of Veedersburg; a sister, Mrs. Ollie Ruth Clawson of Rt. 4, Veedersburg; 20 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
  She was preceded in death by a sister and a niece.
  Mrs. Newman was a member of the Stone Bluff United Methodist Church.
  Services were held Monday at the Sterling Christian Church with Kenneth Stith officiating. Burial was in Osborne Prairie Cemetery. Parham Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
  The family requested that memorials be in the form of contributions to the Sterling Christian Church.
